Does He, or doesn't he?

by Babe
(Michigan)

The Question

We met at work, both divorced...single for awhile. Instant connection...but long distance. Time passed, lay off made it an option to move, so I picked closer to him.

As soon as I got close, he pulled away. I'm six years older than him. Over 8 years he has come back into my life from a distance, and disappeared just as fast.

My question is...could this be a mid life thing, where he needs his freedom...or am I destined to feel this deeply all alone? He never does answer a direct question.

Noel's response

My guess is that it is more than a midlife transition. He acts as though he is afraid of commitment. I suggest you move on.
