Loss of interest in sex

by karen
(ireland)

The Question

My partner is 38 and his sex drive is very low. We hardly ever have sex anymore, and this has been going on for several years. He says it's because he is tired as he works nights constantly. But is this normal?

Noel's response

It is normal for some men. However, I would advise a thorough medical, including a blood test for testosterone levels. He may also be depressed, which can suppress a person's sex drive.

If you are having conflict in your marriage, that can also dampen a person's sex drive. In this case, marriage counselling would be helpful.
