Midlife Break-up

by Patrick
(Miami, Florida)

Hello,

I don't know exactly if my boyfriend is facing mid-life crisis or not. He has been upset for the last weeks and two weeks ago he decided to break up with me and let me go.

He says he doesn't want to hurt me as he needs his own space and needs to learn how to do things for himself. He is currently going out and meeting other people for friendships and something more (I found condoms in his car).

I don't know if I should let him go and forget about him and/or support him in some way. I used to call and text him after he broke up with me and once he looked at my eyes and told me "You really need to move on..."

He broke my heart and hurt me a lot. Now I moved out from our apartment and he is there alone and always locked in his room chatting for long hours.

Does this sound like a Mid-life crisis or he just wanted to break up with me? After this crisis is there any way we could get back together? How long can this last?

Noel's response

It sounds as though he wants to break up. His message that you 'need to move on' seems pretty clear.

I don't know whether there is a chance you will get back together.
