Midlife crisis over adopting..,

I am a 37 year old woman and husband is 42. We talked about adoption and went through the classes and everything was fine until a child was found that matched our family. We have one child who is 14 years old. He was so excited but when it came time to bring child into our home, he says "I don't want a life time commitment." This happened all of a sudden without any warning. Please help!

I don't know how I can help. Perhaps marriage counseling will help. You do not make it clear whether you have actually gone through with the adoption.
