Mid-Life Crisis

by Jade
(Singapore)

Hi Noel. I'm not sure if my husband is going thru a Mid-Life Crisis. He is not sure what he wants and that he feels we are not as close as we used to be when we were dating. He wants time apart and alone. I asked if he has someone else in his life, he said no. He just doesn't know what he wants but he knows he still cares and has feelings for me. It has been 3 months and we are getting nowhere. I am at a loss and have been crying my heart out as I do not know what to do. He has always been a very loving and caring husband.

Noel's response

It sounds a lot like a midlife transition. The only thing I can suggest at the moment is being patient, asking for what you want using 'I statements' do he doesn't have to get defensive, and waiting it out.

You and your husband both might find my book 'A Harley Or My Wife' (available as an ebook on this site) useful, as well as 'Crossing The Sou's River' by William O. Roberts.
