why did he leave me and the kids, for someone he knew a week

my partner's mum died and he began drinking a lot and so we were arguing more. 10 days after the funeral he left me said he couldn't stand the rows, but wanted to work things out.

A week later i found out he had met someone else, had moved in with her and was just stringing me along. A few times he has seemed like he wants to come back, on the few occasions we have talked but then very abruptly changes his mind (like within an hour)and goes back to her. He denies this to her.

Its been a month, he refuses to speak to me, won't even look at me. If i ask why he gets angry he says he loves me and misses me but it would never work.

We were together 10 years and have 2 children. He's 28 and she's 40. they have even sat together and sent me cruel messages saying she's better looking than me etc. Why has he done this to me?

I don't know the answer to your question. He may be grieving the loss of his mom, and not know how to handle it.

He may have an alcohol problem.

Perhaps you and he have had other struggles in the past, and this most recent bout of arguing was the straw that broke the camel's back.
