Erection Difficulties. mid 40's male

I'm 46 in pretty good health and weight. I exercise mildly. My question is my erections have noticeably decreased over the last couple months. I used to be able to have 3-8 orgasm a week either having sex or masturbating and still achieve a pretty firm erection. Well now if i go about 4 days with out an orgasm I achieve a good firm erection but after orgasm it will take me 3 or 4 days before I can get another firm erection. Is that normal? Even if I'm masturbating it doesn't get fully erect and if I stop briefly my erection goes down quickly.

Noel's response

It is fairly normal for a man to lose firmness in his erections, and take longer to recover after orgasm as he ages. This is particularly so after age 50, but our testosterone levels begin to decline slowly from our early twenties on.

It might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about your concerns anyway, just in case there is some other cause of the symptoms you describe.
